Economy Stable Despite Fears
Despite fears by some economists, Amall's economy seems to be weathering the current global crisis well. Fears of an economic recession have brought exchange rates down, but the Amallian dollar recovered fairly well after analysts noted that the economy was still stable. Trade on the Surlaw City Stock Exchange (SCSE) seemed to be back to normal by close of market today, and most businesses and markets were largely unaffected by the drop in the exchange rate.
Fears of diminishing exports were also seemingly unfounded, with food exports maintaining their healthy trade averages. Imports were also not affected by the stock markets, international purchasing continued unabated.
The weaker global economy continues to affect spending though, with consumers being less eager to spend money on items outside of the essentials. Retailers have revealed that spending still continues, though at a lesser rate than this time last year.
