Main Beach in Lee Voted Best in Land

A panel of judges in this year's "Best Beach" contest has once again voted Main beach in Lee as the best in the land. The panel of judges is made up of surfers, beachgoers and representatives from the National Tourism Bureau.

The judges are required to shortlist 20 beaches from around the country, and then to visit and rate each of them (paid for by the sponsers of the contest). Once all the results have been submitted, a further shortlist of 7 beaches is selected, and then votes are cast to determine the three best beaches in the land.

This year's runners up were Corf Beach, a popular summer destination outside Effarig, in second place and Spessa Beach near Anarip coming in third position.

The beaches are rated on a number of criteria, including beach sand, cleanliness, surf and waves, and facilities.

White sands, surfing waves and a wide variety of shops and other facilities nearby helped Main beach to clinch the top spot. Surfers could only praise the wave and beachgoers remarked on the clean beach and good weather almost all year round. Regulars to the seaside town also mentioned that the small size of Lee gave it a warm and friendly atmosphere and kept many holidaymakers returning year after year.

The town has put in place a number of regulations in order to keep the itself from becoming too large and commercialised, and this has helped to keep it's tourism healthy.
